Highlight Reel & Guided Tour in Workshop 3.0

A highlight reel is a significant tool for immersion in your 3D showcase - it's a series of ongoing, 2D snapshots that "highlight" the most significant parts of your 3D model. This guide will walk you through the process of creating your own unique highlight reels, and the simple process of creating and sharing a guided tour.Screen_Shot_2019-06-24_at_1.46.31_PM.png

Before You Begin

What is a Highlight Reel?

The highlight reel is a series of 2D snapshots that serve as a tour through your 3D model. Each of these snapshots appear in a reel at the bottom of the 3D Showcase window.

What is a Guided Tour?

The guided tour automatically moves your guest through the space based on the 3D snapshot flow of the highlight reel. Guests can stop the tour at any time and explore the space in more detail.

How These Features Help You

Guided tours make for great promotional material - use your favorite screen recording software to, well, record your guided tour, then edit that footage into your marketing material.

V. Add 360º Views to the Highlight Reel

360º Views are captured in-camera - they are typically utilized to take pictures outside in open spaces, where the infrared from the sun interferes with the camera's ability to capture 3D data.

  • Example: The final shot of a house guided tour ends up outside on the street, for a full 3D look of the house exterior and surrounding environment.

Remember, you must have at least one captured 360º image to complete the steps below.

  1. Open your space in my.matterport.com.
  2. Switch to edit mode.
    • To do this, click the pencil icon at the top-left corner of the window.

Did you know? You can customize the walkthrough speed of your tour using the &wts URL parameter. This parameter adjusts the transition speed between highlights. &wts=2 means that that the transition speed is set to two meters per second. We recommend a speed range of one to three - two is set as the default.
