I scanned the Lincoln Memorial - where can I show it?

Is there a showcase for non-revenue-producing Matterport work?  I just scanned the Lincoln Memorial yesterday, and it occured to me that it seems like it would be good marketing for Matterport to host (and not charge) for scans of certain public spaces that someone is willing to do on their own.  So many in DC alone that would provide amazing Matterport scans.

Here's the LM scan, btw,

  • hi Robert,
What a unique point of interest to scan. A few ideas:

    1) I'm sure our community would be super excited to see this. I'd recommedn sharing it with Matterport's Official User Group on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/MatterportOfficial/

    2) Submit it to the Matterport Gallery for curation so more people can see it: https://matterport.com/gallery/suggest-a-space/

    Best,

  • Hi Sibyl,

Thanks!  I did just post it to Facebook, but that's a small group.  The Gallery submission was what I was looking for.  Was only partially aware of that venue.  Thank you!

  • Hello Robert,

That's the best scan ever.  Awesome job.  I love that Memorial.  Thank you for sharing.

  • Excellent scan, for my OCD you need to even up the scan points and make them more regular but great effort when I'm sure you had to deal with other visitors wandering in.

Maybe you now have the sample scan it might be worth showing it to someone who can grant you exclusive access at some point and maybe even inside the the fence so you can get even closer?

Thanks David.  Yes, good advice on the scan points, I'll do that.  I did contact the park service after the scan but got no response.

I'm in DC a lot.  My plan is to add scan points in the future, maybe even get a full point cloud created.
