Pro2 vs Pro camera help.

(150% and 200% zoom)

(100%, no zoom)

Hello all! I just received my Pro2 today and was really excited, but it was short lived. Is it me or I just can't see the difference (the 4k difference) between the old camera and new camera?

  • How are you viewing the image?

One thing I noticed, you need to view the your scan in the actual link that you would send out. Not in the workshop. The workshop has a lowered render resolution until you zoom in a couple of clicks.

You also cant see a difference on the iPad.

There is a difference and its twice as sharp. Where words were barely able to be read now they can easily be read.

Plus the camera has improved color accuracy. Highlights and shadows also look better.

  • I looked at the photos and the real-estate sign in one is barely readable and considerable more sharp in the other photo. Plus the sharpness/resolution of the picture is higher than the old model. Looks about right to me from the screen shots

These are the Matterport snapshots that we will be using to make flyers and brochures. I do see the difference you are saying but I don't see that it's a big difference and maybe not worth the upgrade. I guess it's because the pro camera was already pretty good.

  • You are welcome. That's what happens as you increase resolution. Things get twice as good when it doubles, but slowly it becomes harder to notice. From Standard def or 480p to 1080p was a massive improvement but from 1080 to 2160 we didn't see as much with our eyes unless you got twice as close.

Color is also improved on the new camera. I might take those snapshots into lightroom or photo editor and tweak some settings to pull more out of them. If you are printing these flyers on high quality paper or good thick stock flyers, with higher DPI, you should see an improvement.

  • The tours look great though. Def worth the upgrade for that. Just I don't see much I can do in the post-editing of the photo prints. :/

I never upgraded when the pro2 came out but I thought my tours looked better than ever? I am sure there are a few differences but I am happy with my pro1.
