Any positional metadata for 360 equirectangular photos?

I'm wondering if there is a way to get any kind of datafile that indicates the relative centers of the equirectangular captured through Workshop. We are trying to import them into a VR system and having this info available would make it simple to automate their positioning. Thanks!

  • Hey Paolo!

We don't have that sort of metadata for the 360 images, though your best bet would be to take a screenshot of your capture app. Not ideal, and you have to watch out for the numbering (we skip failed alignments), but could work for what you're doing.

  • Thanks Tomer, we'll give it a try to the Capture app screenshot.

  • This is a great question @paolo.  I asked something similar a few months ago.  @Tomer, this is a bit of an issue for anyone wanting to explore VR/Augmented Reality or other Reality Imaging sector solutions as camera and scan metadata is invariably always needed.  I managed to figure something out by capturing the query string parameters using the smart link key within the showcase.  It was a bit of a manual effort but at least it proved that you can extract some data from each scan position albeit no camera meta data is available.  I am investigating ways to automate this via WebGL.  Be great if Matterport would open up an api to their own subscriber base.   Best Regards, Gordon
