Matterport VR app for Cardboard with the Samsung S8 and Note 8

Greetings All,

A recent software update for the Samsung S8 and Note 8 phones introduced a bug that is currently causing issues with many Cardboard and Daydream apps including the Matterport VR app for Cardboard. This bug manifests in many VR apps appearing to crash when users attempt to run the app and is related to the native resolution settings of your phone.

There is a simple workaround for this issue. Users can adjust the default screen resolution of their phone and it will allow them to continue to use the Matterport VR app without further issue.

Adjusting your Screen Resolution

  1. Open the Apps tray
  2. Find and tap Settings
  3. Scroll down and tap Display
  4. Tap on Screen resolution
  5. Change the resolution to WQHD (2560 x 1440) and click Apply
