360 View Exporting or Downloading

I was using 360 View feature for the first time on a shoot and shot a few 360 views at my last location. These rooms I DID NOT do a 360 Scan and am now realizing that there is no export option for those rooms. Is there a work around for getting these files viewable and shareable? any help is much appreciated as I cant get back to the location for a scan....

I'm not exactly sure I understand the question... but you did a scan at a property, in some rooms you didn't scan but took 360 views - is that what you're saying? If that's the case - and you have sent your model up to be processed I can tell you how to get the 360s. One of Matterport's finest (support) helped me get mine the first time. Let me know if I understand your question correctly.

  • I would like to send the 360 view to a client. Is there a way to export/download?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Hi there @do360tours! If you're looking to export the 360 View as an panoramic image, we don't have that ability at the moment. Or were you after something else?

  • A client has asked for JUST a 360 view pano for their on line news letter. So the "NEWS" is no?

  • Hi @Allan Sprecher,

Unfortunately, it's not possible to extract just a 360° pano from the Matterport system. In order for the model from Capture to process, there has to be at least one 3D scan. Then once you have your Space, whether you want to extract the 360 from the 3D scan or just download a 360° View, the system simply doesn't allow it right now. Sorry for the inconvenience :(

    Good morning everyone.
Is there any news on this subject? Will we soon have the option to export/download our 360° views?
Also, can we add 360° views to an existing model/space? For ex., log the camera to an existing model in the Capture app, add a couple of 360° views, and then re-upload the model...Would this work?
Many thanks for your kind and prompt feedback.
    Kdst rgds.

  • Hi @sandra-sciboz,

I'm sorry, but it's still not possible to extract any information from the Space other than the OBJ file and texture map image files. As for adding 360° Views to an existing Space, that too is not possible. Processing model data into a Space is much like baking a cake; once baked, you can't add another egg and more flour to change the cake.

  • Hi @Matterport-Amir,

Many thanks for your prompt feedback.
So, if I understand you well, then it is also not possible to change some specific scans of an existing mode? Let's say a room has been renovated, and the customer would like to have these modifications integrated into his tour and dollhouse....
I understood from other posts and this was feasible by canceling the scans, re-scaning and uploading again....

Thanks for your answer. Kdst rgds.

  • While you can add/remove 3D scans or 360° Views, as well as add/remove any marked features from the model data, once that information goes through the processing engine, a new Space with a new Space ID will always be created.

So if you want to scan a bathroom or kitchen remodel, you do not have to rescan the entire property as a new model in Capture. You can choose to remove some old scans and just replace those with scans of the remodeled area. However, in your account you'll have the original Space, before any model data modifications, and the post-mod Space.

Any links you have to the old Space will still be active and you'll have to update them to link to the new Space instead.

  • Hi Matterport and community, @sandra-sciboz, @matterport-scott, @matterport-amir

We for sure would need the option to Export or download 360 Views, this will kill the cost and issue of taking 2 cameras to the location, where we can then make a Matterport 3D Showcase and a few 360 Views for other use. When can we expect this feature? Are we talking, days, weeks, months?

Maybe can we receive the information @Lisa Hinson delivered as well?

    Greetings Marco

  • Hi there @marcopalatini,

To confirm, you're asking about this feature, correct?

We're doing a lot of investigation around use cases for 360 photos -- are you able to give more detail about how you're using 360 photos currently? Anything you can share would be helpful, thanks!

  • Hi @matterport-scott

Well the one thing we do is we create 360° Websites with Panoramas. Normally they include 1-3 Panos. This is another Part of our Business, but currently we use a DSLR Camera and a Stitching Software but now we have the Matterport Camera and its actually allready producing stitched 360° panos. i think the Quality is OK for most Cases it's actually a pitty to bring along two sets of cameras and double work just because Matterport doesnt have an export function. It would be important to get the image in a common format so it can be used with other tools. This Business Case wouldnt effect your 3D Showcases in any way but would be a big benefit for Matterport Users.

We also offer normal VR Tours for certain Customers. Specially if the customer want more options like buttons or Scripting inside the VR Tour.

    Greetings Marco

  • I really like the idea of having access to the 360° Views captured with your Matterport camera, but think it may be better if you could movie 360s between your Spaces in your account and even have 360s all on their own. That way it's already hosted and you can just post it to Facebook or embed it on your site as a pano.

  • true, that would be good, but. We do alot of scripting like adding Buttons, Text, Frames, Pictures, lighting effects and including 3D Objects inside our 360° Views, this would not be possible by just sharing the link.

  • Very interesting Marco! We are now getting equipment & software to do unbranded 360s with DSLR because Matterport disallowed use of 3rd party service that created Facebook and Google Maps ready 360 JPGs. So many applications, Clients want 360s without 3D scans.

  • Yes - but in case of stitching errors a little photoshop magic is always nice. Therefore the best solution would be download & reupload/replacements for sharing on e.g. Facebook as also reintegration in the MP virtual tour.

  • Can you share details on the scripting you do?

  • I can certainly understand that would be the best solution, but I'm not sure how feasible it is just because once a pano is edited in PS, the registration meta data would most likely no longer be part of the image. Then it would be impossible to orient the pano in the direction it should be in the Space itself.

I'm not saying it's impossible, but certainly way beyond my level of expertise :)

  • It is indeed possible to re-inject metadata and orientate a 360° once edited, it's common practice in the world of 360° panoramas created with DSLRs.

Facebook have a tool and a comprehensive 'how to' with links to software for adding Metadata and other helpful tips including setting the initial heading etc and it can be found HERE

  • Hi guys, i read a lot about exporting the 360 views from the matterport, but don't read about importing your own 360º images. I find the 360º images of the Matterport unusable for creating a virtual tour or use for real estate. The 360º images we take with the Nikon D810 + 10.5 mm fish are of much higher quality and i would like to add my exterior 360º images to the 3d matterport model. Here is a sample of our 360º tour we create for real estate in the Netherlands.

  • I can certainly understand the benefit of combining the 360° Panos from a DSLR with the Matterport Space. Unfortunately, at this time, there's no way to import or upload anything like that to Spaces in your account.

  • Why not use something like WP3D models or build a page out on your own website? You can embed the tour and have a photo gallery below it with still shots and your 360's. That way you wouldn't have the highlight reel taking up space in the tour. Your panos do look good.

  • This is a required feature.  It should be standard.

The 3d data is useless.  The dollhouse does nothing but create a messy 3d model that is not useable to any program.

What is important, are the high resoltuion 360s captured.

Even if doing a simple real estate capture, I might want to change the color of the couch that was present in the capture, but youre telling me I cant manipulate the 360 image ?

All Id have to do is alter it in each 360 taken from each camera position.

I can do more with my tablet and a 360 camera app.

  • Matterport seems to be nothing more than a monopoly of the Cupix program, where you can make your own 3d models and virtual tours with 360 photos from any source.

  • I dont understand why the 360 images arent being made available

Each camera position uses the damn high rez 360 image, not a collection of point cloud pixels.

  • What am I missing?  I scanned a house recently, took some 360 images using the in-workshop snapshot option (not the capture 360 option) as well as regular 2D for the tour. Just been to that model - scrolled down to the 360s beneath the 2Ds - clicked on the down arrow and oila its in my download folder. I have used the 2** scan option to get a 360 for a client proof of concept that the sunlight would not work for the 3D model while the 360 image was good.   2 scans will not be billed.
