Do NOT Update Matterport Capture App

I updated my capture app on iPad and now all my spaces have randomised features. I would caution against upgrading till feedback from MP.

All: we have released version 2.3.2 (fixes the root cause of the corruption issue) - it may take a little while to reach all servers, replacing 2.3.1.

  • @jc3Dcx Sorry this happened to you - can you please send me a direct message as we'd like to work with you to investigate.

For all: we believe this is a rare occurrence and as a precaution, we'd recommend closing the Capture app first, then update from the App Store. We are investigating why this appears to be only tied to hitting the 'open' button from within the App store while Capture is open in the background.

@matterport-kirk Does that mean that you can confirm that Matterport has seen this first-hand beyond @jc3dcx's report?

  • I've updated my app after backing up and there was no issues with my saved spaces.
I also updated via the App Store rather than in the app as I've found issues with other applications done via the app rather than iTunes or the App Store.

  • My upgrade was smooth -- I did make sure the app was closed and I did the upgrade from the app store and DID and opened it from the home screen (not the app store open button).

  • @jc3Dcx, @Michael Radie we are testing a potential way to detect and heal this corruption. If you are interested in trying a pre-release version (after we have finished 1st round testing), please email beta-at-matterport.com and we'll go direct there.

@Chris Hickman: we have been able to reproduce the scenario, but do not yet understand the exact root cause. Thus we're going parallel path: detect and fix the symptom while continuing to try to understand exactly how this is happening.

  • I am experiencing a different but serious issue.

The app auto-updated when the iPad connected to wifi. When I opened the app I immediately notice that every single model had been duplicated two times. The duplicates however do not have any of the markings that were on the originals.

The real problem is that now I cannot upload my new models. When the upload button is pressed the app stalls, and then the progress icon appears but remains at 0%. After a few minutes the uploaded icon appears as if it has been uploaded but it does not appear in my my.matterport account as processing. I am 100% logged into the correct account in both the app and my computer. If I go to try and upload again I get the noticed saying the model is unchanged. I move a marking slightly and try to upload again with the same problem.

Ive tried restarting the iPad, closing the app, most everything I can think of.

i really need to resolve this as I have clients waiting for their models.

    please help asap

  • @Vincent I know our support team is working with you on your issues

(unclear if this is tied into the same issue on this thread or is different)

For the corruption issues the other users on this thread have seen:

    - we've identified the root cause and have submitted version 2.3.2 to Apple

    - we'll release that the second it is approved

    - version 2.3.2 will not heal existing corruption, we are working on that capability and please see this community update for more details:
