View mattertags while wearing VR Goggles?

When viewing models through the goggles mode I lose the ability to view mattertags. Is there a way to fix this or is it just not available?

  • Hello Kenny,

Mattertag Posts are not supported in the Matterport VR app at this time. This is something we are working to add, but we do not have a firm timeline for when they will be available just yet.

  • Hi Keith,

This question was asked over a year ago now but I have a client requesting the same, Has a timeline for this been agreed yet?

  • Hello Kevin,

I'm afraid we still do not have a timeline for this functionality.  A lot of our VR work has been put on temporary hold while we focus on updating our Showcase and Workshop apps.

  • Thanks, Keith, whereas the workshop is essential for the operator its the VR aspect that's helping the customers so can we request that it's put on for consideration please?

There are a few of us asking for it now.

  • Hello Kevin,

Thanks for the feedback.  I will be sure share this with the rest of our Product Team.

I can assure you that Mattertags for VR is still on our road map, it is just a matter of priority in the short term.

Keith, to hear that VR development has been put on hold is disappointing. Especially while the functionality of the Matterport App on the Go is crippled by something I assume could be sorted quickly.

The Matterport VR app is one of the easiest and most powerful VR apps to use out there and on the Gear it works flawlessly.

There aren't many (if any) other apps out there that provide such a powerful and simple way to access photorealistic VR environments, I think even you guys don't realise its significance.

So to get it working on the Go and allowing non-tech users to get their own content on there would really be something for Matterport to shout about (rather than promoting $0.04ft² cent bottom feeders)

I know there is a hack and it works well for those of us comfortable to mess with code but surely a simple 'injector' utility could be written that generates the .json file that could be then dropped into the relevant location on the Go is straightforward enough to develop?

  • Same issue here. I also have 3D camera, so if this is possible, I can add 3D photos inside a Mattertag. But I think Matterport is not following our suggestions: no more real 3D tours (Custom VR), cannot add Mattertags at VR, cannot move with gamepad or joystick at VR, etc.
