Restored Folk Victorian Home in Jefferson, Texas

Hi All,

Here is a my parents' beautifully restored Victorian home in Jefferson. Please enjoy the tour.

Godfrey-Singleton House

Why is this Space special to you? My parents put a lot of heart and soul into this `892 restoration. Purchased in 1991, the work was a long journey. In 2016, the home was awarded a Texas Historical Medallion.

Walk us through the job. What went well, what was hard, what was unexpected? What challenges did you find, how'd you solve them? Stairs everywhere! Thunderstorms instantaneously appearing out of nowhere during the outside shoot! Humidity and lens condensation when transitioning from interior to exterior. Uneven ground and flooring. Two tools really made a difference: 1) Manfrotto 290 xtra tripod and 2) Manfrotto MHXPRO-3W X-PRO 3-Way Head with Retractable Levers and Friction Controls. Otherwise, leveling would have be very challenging and time consuming.

How long did it take? About 2 hours. Stair and the garden shots were the biggest time consumers.

What challenges did you find, how'd you solve them? Stairs - lot's of them. The MHXPRO-3W helped tremendously.

What are you most proud of? The results of my parents' restoration. They didn't stage the home. The tour shows what it looks like 24/7.

Kind regards,

Gary

  • This is brilliant, great work Gary! If it's OK with you, I'll move this to the "How I Did It" section, so it's easier for users to discover!

Also, if you'd like, feel free to add a couple shots from the Space. Perhaps that incredible canopy bed, and the dining/sitting room? They are GORGEOUS!!

  • What a beautiful home and nicely done Space. Stairs can really add some time to a job.

  • Hi Scott,

Great idea on adding photos. Here you go. Sorry, I meant to have originally placed this post in the "How I Did It" section.

    Kind Regards,

    Gary

  • That's a spectacular place, and a *magic* virtual tour!

I've enjoyed it, thanks for the experience.

While fully immerged in the past times, and with the right suspension of disbelief, I also happened to meet a ghost from the future...
