What is processing? (Classic Cloud Plans)

This article is only for classic cloud plans (subscribed on May 9th, 2019 or earlier).

When you scan a place with your Matterport Pro, Pro2 3D or Pro Lite Camera, you are collecting 2D and 3D data.

Then when you upload your model to Matterport Cloud, it is it is processed with computer vision (through a set of computer servers) to create the final 3D Space that you manipulate and share with your customers.

A one time processing fee is charged for each Matterport Space you create. This covers the computing cost of processing your data into a complete and immersive 3D Space.

Matterport Spaces with only 1 or 2 scans are processed for free. You can use this to test the lighting and other environmental factors. Learn our best practices.

In addition, reuploads of already processed models, and uploads of duplicates of already processed models are processed for free. Learn more about reuploading.

Billing Timing

You are billed for processing only when a Space has successfully processed. For example, if you upload at 9:30 pm on January 31st it may take several hours to process, and won't successfully complete until early on February 1st. It would then count for your February usage. The cutoff time is midnight UTC on the last day of the month.

Billing on when the model successfully completed processing (and not base on when you uploaded it) accounts for cases when a model takes a long time to process or fails to process the first time.
