Measure with Matterport Scenes

Android no longer includes Google Tango technology, so we can no longer support or maintain Matterport Scenes. Thank you to all of the 3D enthusiasts who used Scenes. We look forward to bringing you mobile 3D technology on new platforms in the future.

If you wish to continue using an unsupported version of Matterport Scenes, then it is only available for Google Tango phones: ASUS ZenFone AR or Lenovo Phab2 Pro.

Use the measure tool to measure the distance between any two points in a scene.

Scenes are accurate to ±1 in (±2.5 cm). Accuracy declines as distance from the smartphone increases.
Measurements are rounded off to the nearest inch or centimeter. For greater accuracy please use a tape measure or laser measure.

Create a Measurement

Open the Measure tool by tapping the Edit button and then tap the Measure icon

Tap and hold where you want the first measurement point. The magnifying glass helps you choose an exact location.

Lift your finger up and a yellow dot will appear.

Repeat this process to place the second point. You may need to pan or zoom the model or change your viewpoint to find the right point.

Your measurement will appear.

Tap Done with finished.

Series of Measurements

You can also add more points to create a series of measurements. The end point of the last measurement will also be the start point for the next measurement.

Creating a series of measurements is simple. After placing two points just place another point and the new measurement will appear. Continue adding points to make more measurements. Tap Done with finished.

In the picture below, we placed four points and found three measurements.

Be sure to select Done if you want to start a new, unconnected measurement.

To end and remove the current measurement series, tap the X in the upper left.

Delete a Measurement

Display your measurements by tapping the measure icon  . If you are currently making measurements, be sure to tap DONE.

Tap and hold the measurement until it turns red. You can select more than one measurement. Tap the trash icon at the top to delete.

Delete All Measurements

Open the three-dot menu and tap "Select measurement..."

Open the three dot menu again and tap “Select All” then tap the trash icon.

Tap the Measure icon  to show them again.

Measurements in 3D Space

Measurements are displayed in 3D space. When you move to a new viewpoint where an object obstructs your view of a measurement, the measurement is drawn as "ghosted."

To make your measurements appear in front of an obscuring object, tap to select them and then tap the show in front icon .

To return the measurement to the ghosted view, tap the show behind icon

Change Units

Change the measurement units by tapping the three dots in the upper-right corner.

Selecting units from the home screen will determine the units used in subsequent models.

Selecting units while a model is open will affect that model only. The selection will be saved with the model.
