Include 360° Views in your Space

You've spent some time capturing 360º Views, and now you are finally ready to add these Views to your Matterport Space. This article will walk you through how to append your 360º Views to either existing, or new, 3D scans.

In relation to 3D scans, you can use Matterport's Edit Mode to do the following:

  1. See your 360º Views 
  2. Take a Snapshot of a 360º View 
  3. Set a 360º View as your starting position

Before You Begin 

Before beginning the process, you first must determine if you've uploaded your 360º View(s) to the Matterport cloud.

  1. If you haven't uploaded to the cloud:
    • Place your 360º Views in the Matterport Capture app.
  2. If you have uploaded to the cloud:
    • Place your 360º Views into Matterport's Editor. 
    • Add a 360º View to the Highlight Reel (which we'll go over below)

Instructions 

I. See your 360º Views 

  1. Go to my.matterport.com. 
  2. Select the Space that includes uploaded 360° Views. 
  3. Switch to Edit mode.
    • To do this, click the pencil icon Editmodeicon.pngat the top-left corner of the window.
  4. Click the 360° Views button in the toolbox to the right. 
  5. From the pop-up window, choose any of your 360° Views. 
  6. Click the blue "Expand" icon to open your 360° in the Viewport.Screen_Shot_2019-07-05_at_11.25.01_AM.png
  7. Pan your viewpoint.
    • You can pan left, right, up and down by clicking and holding down your mouse.
  8. Rename your 360° View (optional).
    • To do this, click the description in the thumbnail window, then type in the desired title.Screen_Shot_2019-07-05_at_11.26.35_AM.png

Renamed scans will not appear in 3D Showcase - if you want them to appear, take a Snapshot of a 360° View and rename the Snapshot. Only then will the new name appear in 3D Showcase and the Highlight Reel.

II. Take a 360° Snapshot of a 360° View 

  1. Open the 360° View you want to take a Snapshot of. 
  2. Click the "Photos" icon in the toolbar to the right. 
  3. Click the 360° Photo icon at the top right of the screen. Screen_Shot_2019-07-05_at_11.28.12_AM.png
  4. Frame your Snapshot.
    • Pan with the mouse or arrow keys to frame your Snapshot - try to really capture the general scope of the entire environment, as the 360° will be extremely wide.
  5. Click the Camera icon in the center of the page to take the picture.
  6. In the "Photo Saved" pop-up that appears, click "View". Screen_Shot_2019-07-05_at_11.30.04_AM.png
  7. View your image in the pop-up window.
    • Here, you can rename the Snapshot, delete it, or download the image onto your hard drive.

III. Set a 360º View as your Starting Position 

  1. Go to my.matterport.com. 
  2. Select the Space that includes uploaded 360° Views. 
  3. Switch to Edit mode.
    • To do this, click the pencil iconEditmodeicon.png at the top-left corner of the window.
  4. Click the 360° Views button in the toolbox to the right. 
  5. From the pop-up window, choose the 360° scan you want as your starting position.
  6. Hover your mouse over the thumbnail, and click the "Drag to Map" button.Screen_Shot_2019-07-05_at_11.31.22_AM.png
  7. Drag the thumbnail into its corresponding location in the Floor Plan.
  8. Once placed, click the "360° Views" icon in the toolbox to the right.Screen_Shot_2019-07-05_at_11.33.09_AM.png
  9. Select the starting position thumbnail. 
  10. Click the "Start Location" icon in the toolbox to the right.
  11. Click the blue "Set" button at the top of the image. Screen_Shot_2019-07-05_at_11.43.54_AM.png
  12. Click the blue "Publish" button in the top-right corner of the page.
  13. Reload your Space.
    • Your 360° scan should be the starting location of your Space.
