In the summer of 2016, Matterport Workshop is switching to a new Workshop platform based on WebGL.
Why is Matterport switching to a new Workshop platform?
The new Workshop platform is more secure and does not rely on any plugins or software downloads. Also, all major browsers are discontinuing support of plugins; therefore, our current Unity solution will cease to work on all browsers by the end of the year.
With this new platform, we can also offer a more robust and customizable feature experience.
What do I need to do to use the new Workshop platform?
If you are using a compatible platform, nothing! Matterport will automatically transition you to the new platform. If you are using a browser that is not supported, you will need to download an alternative browser.
What are the minimum specs for my computer for running Workshop?
PC: Windows Vista or later with latest updates, a GPU, and at least 4 GB of RAM.
OS X: 10.8 later with latest updates, a GPU, and at least 4 GB of RAM.
Which browsers are supported on the new Workshop platform?
The new platform for Matterport Workshop is supported on the following browsers:
Why will you no longer support Internet Explorer?
Microsoft has replaced Internet Explorer (IE) with Edge as their new default browser.
What should I do if I currently use Internet Explorer for my Workshop workflow?
We recommend using Microsoft Edge on Windows 10, if you want to continue your work on a Microsoft browser. Or you can download an alternative browser, such as Chrome or Firefox.
Will I lose any of my Spaces or unpublished edits during or after the transition to the new platform?
No. All of your Spaces and 3D Showcases will remain viewable. Any unpublished edits will transfer to the new platform. Although if you publish edits during the transition period, you may need to republish when complete.
How will my workflow or interface be different on the new Workshop platform?
Your workflow and interface will not change. All functionality remains the same.
What changes will I see with the new Workshop platform?
Some browsers may see a slightly slower load time. Firefox is currently is the fastest loading browser.
Is the performance of new Workshop platform affected by my computer or laptop model?
Older machines (at least 2010 and earlier) may run the new platform a little slower, but all functionality should remain.
