What it's for
You need an iPad to connect to the camera and control the scanning process (use the Capture app). Generally we recommend you use the best iPad you have available (most powerful and most free space).
Use a desktop or laptop computer to open your processed Spaces in Matterport Cloud or Workshop. Learn more.
Identify your iPad model based on the model number on the back of the device. Learn more.
Using an unsupported iPad can cause the Capture app to crash.
*Not recommended for use with the Pro2 or Pro2 Lite 3D camera with fast capture firmware 1.1.623.X or above.
**We do not support the optional keyboard and/or pencil on any iPad model.

Purchase an iPad with the most amount of storage space that you can afford.
Matterport recommends at least 128 GB total storage space.
This is so you can capture lots of models and save them all. Then if there are future problems, you can come back and make edits very easily.
Keep at least 8 GB free space at all times. This is to keep a generous margin on your iPad. Having less than 8 GB of free space can potentially lead to complications aligning scans and the Capture app crashing.

Beta or old versions (older than one major revision) of iOS are not supported.
Mobile data (4G/LTE or cellular connection just for the iPad) is not required to upload models. You can use WiFi from your home or office instead.
Uploading models to Matterport Cloud uses a lot of bandwidth. If you do use mobile data, keep in mind that your mobile data charges can be very large.
