How to Share your Space on Social Media

You can easily share a Matterport Space to social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, or even in an email by enabling "Social Sharing."

From your model's page, click on DetailsScreen_Shot_2019-11-25_at_9.57.40_AM.png

Below Internal Details, is the Player Options section:Screen_Shot_2020-07-29_at_17.06.45.png

If the account default is Enabled, you can leave the radio button as Default. If the account default is Disabled, you can choose for this Space only to be Enabled by clicking the Enabled radio button.

If the account default says Disabled and you would like it to be Enabled, you can change this in Settings > Space Settings.

Double check that Link Sharing is Enabled. If Social Sharing and Link Sharing are both enabled, then in the Showcase, you'll see the Social Media sharing icon in the bottom left hand corner:

If you click on this, you'll see a dialogue both with options to directly share to Facebook, Twitter, and more:

If there is a social media platform not listed here you'd like to post to, you can simply copy the link and paste it into your post.

Click on the social media you would like to share to. Note, you may have to log into your chosen social media accounts first.

Continue through until the post is made. The People who follow you on social media will see your post. When they click the link or image, it will open the Matterport model in a new tab or window. From here, users can explore the Showcase.

Unfortunately, users cannot explore a Matterport model directly from the Facebook or Twitter feed.biscuit-factory.png

Referring Back to Your Website

Once your model is on social media, people are likely to get excited and start sharing it with others. This ‘cool factor’ is especially effective with those who have never seen a virtual tour before.

However, you’ll want to translate all these likes, shares, tweets, impressions, and space visits into actual traffic to your website and "into your funnel" so you can convert them into real-life visitors and real customers.

You can do this by adding your website’s URL to the URL field within Matterport Cloud and enabling Social Sharing.

Enter your website in the Details tab into the "External Website URL" field:

Limit Sharing for an Individual Space

If you don’t want the sharing icon to appear in a given Matterport model, then you have several options.

The first option is to log in to Matterport Cloud (my.matterport.com) and find the Space you want to change. You must have Editor access for this model.

At the Details > Player Options > Allow Social Sharing section, select the Disable radio button.

Unbranded or MLS

The second option is to use the Unbranded or the MLS (multi-listing service) version of the Matterport model. For these versions, there is no sharing icon and no URL field.

Just copy the appropriate link (or embed code) and paste it wherever needed.Screen_Shot_2020-07-29_at_16.16.22.png

The last option is to turn off Link Sharing. 3D models that are private can only be viewed by Collaborators in Matterport Cloud.

Set Sharing Defaults for the Entire Organization

You can also set the defaults around social sharing for all of the Matterport models in your organization.

  1. Make sure you are logged in with an Administrator account.
  2. Openhttps://my.matterport.com/settings/account/manage
  3. Go to Social Sharing Enabled
  4. Switch social sharing on or off as desired.
  5. Click Update to save your changes.
    • This changes the default visibility for social sharing across all of the Matterport models in your account.
    • Remember, anyone with Editor access to a 3D model can override the default visibility, as shown in the previous section.
