Double Vision on Android 7 Phones

Problem

If you've recently updated your Samsung device to Android 7 Nougat and you use the Matterport VR app for Cardboard, you may have issues when you open a VR Space.

Specifically, the images may appear off-center and create a "double vision" effect. For example, in the picture below notice how the hexagon logo is in very different locations for both eyes.

Resolution

This issue happens because of the changes Samsung made to the device default resolution when updating to Android 7.

To correct this issue:

  1. Open the Apps tray
  2. Find and tap Settings
  3. Scroll down and tap Display
  4. Tap on Screen resolution
  5. Change the resolution to WQHD (2560 x 1440) and click Apply

Now launch the Matterport VR for Cardboard app. The issue should be fixed. Notice how the hexagon is in a similar location for both eyes.
